It turns out there’s a verse form known as a landay, that I’d not known of before reading about it on the NaPoWriMo website the other day; the landay — the subject of this absolutely fascinating article — is a form of folk poetry from Afghanistan, what in English would be your basic couplet with some other formal restrictions. True to my usual practice of shameless appropriation… well, let’s just call this one a plain old English couplet, then, shall we?
