Fragments

fragmented papyrus

Spring…
When you…
We are waiting…

So long since…
Speaking of…
Forgotten, just like…

No matter, when…
And if, my…
That too we will…

Loosely in response to a prompt at napowrimo.net, to write something called a hay(na)ku: a poem consisting of a three-line stanza, where the first line has one word, the second line has two words, and the third line has three words… well clearly I didn’t do that, but it did strike a chord in my minimalist brain. Instead, this, in imitation of real and accidental poems that have been partially lost, or wholly created, by time and decay (and recollecting the discovery within the last few years of a “new” poem by the much-reconstructed Sappho). (Aficionados of Ezra Pound may spot another inspiration as well.)
